Humanoid Robots (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is a state-backed research company rather than a startup. It was established in December 2023 in Pudong with registered capital of CNY 1 billion (about USD 140 million) as the Shanghai Humanoid Robot Manufacturing Innovation Center, and in May 2024 the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology designated it the National and Local Co-built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. Xu Bin is general manager and Jiang Lei chief scientist.

Its robot is Qinglong, shown at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference on 4 July 2024 as China's first full-size general-purpose humanoid: 185 cm, 80 kg, 43 active degrees of freedom, 400 Nm peak joint torque and 400 TOPS of onboard compute. At the same event the center launched the OpenLoong community, publishing Qinglong's hardware structure and parameters with software to follow, and Jiang said a new zodiac-named model would follow each year. Later releases include the Suzaku embodied brain and Xuanwu cerebellum models, the Gewu simulation platform built on Unity, and MindLoongGPT, a 7B multimodal model for action generation.

The center's output is reference designs, open-source code and training infrastructure for Shanghai's humanoid cluster, which includes AgiBot and Fourier. It does not sell robots commercially, and no deployment or unit figures for Qinglong have been published.
