Naver Labs

Naver Labs is the research subsidiary of Naver, South Korea's dominant search and internet company, spun out as a separate unit in 2017 and based in Seongnam, south of Seoul. It describes itself as Naver's future technology institute, with robotics, physical AI, spatial intelligence, digital twins and AR as its subjects, and it does not sell robots as products; its work feeds Naver's own buildings and services and a growing list of licensing projects.

Its humanoid-adjacent hardware is AMBIDEX, a two-armed robot with cable-driven joints built with Korea Tech and first shown in 2017. It has since gone through a fan-handling challenge at IROS 2018, a 5G teleoperation demonstration in 2019, haptic teaching in 2020 and hardware and software upgrades in 2021, and remains a research platform for safe human-contact manipulation rather than a full humanoid with legs.

The company's real deployment is 1784, Naver's second headquarters completed in July 2022, where around 110 wheeled Rookie robots deliver parcels and coffee under a cloud brain called ARC, using a robot-only elevator. In July 2026 Naver Labs said the ARC system and 1784 approach were being applied to the Tokyo Midtown Yaesu building in Japan, and in September 2026 it announced FLOW, a no-code platform for building robot services. No standalone revenue or headcount is published for the subsidiary.
