What the record says.

VinMotion (VinMotion General Purpose Humanoid Robots Application, Development and Research JSC) was set up in Hanoi in January 2025 as part of Vingroup, the conglomerate controlled by Pham Nhat Vuong that also owns the car maker VinFast. Vingroup holds 51 percent, Vuong 39 percent and his two sons the remainder. Reports put initial funding at about USD 39 million. The robotics work is led by Quan Nguyen, a Carnegie Mellon PhD and assistant professor at the University of Southern California.

The first robot, Motion 1, appeared in June 2025 after what the company describes as three months of research and is presented as the first Vietnamese-made humanoid, aimed at light factory tasks such as transport and inspection. Motion 2 was shown in a video at the end of December 2025 with a more natural gait, faster walking, a 40 kg load carried on its back, self-righting after falls, autonomous charging and battery swapping. VinMotion says the robots are being tested in logistics and at VinFast plants; no unit numbers have been published.

On 2 June 2026 Vingroup approved a USD 12.75 million investment to create Vinmotion USA, Inc. as a research centre to recruit talent. VinMotion is a well-funded prototype programme, not yet a supplier.
