Chery

Chery Automobile was set up in January 1997 in Wuhu, Anhui, by a group of city officials as a state-owned car maker, with Yin Tongyue running it from the start. It built 2,806,393 vehicles in 2025 and employs about 48,000 people. On 25 September 2025 it listed in Hong Kong, raising about USD 1.2 billion at a valuation near USD 23 billion; the Wuhu city investment arm remains the largest shareholder.

Its humanoid work sits in AiMOGA Robotics, incubated by Chery in January 2025 and about 77 percent owned by it, run by Zhang Guibing, who is also president of Chery International. Its first product, Mornine, is a showroom humanoid that greets customers and explains cars. A Mornine went into service at a Malaysian dealership in March 2025, and in April 2026 the Mornine M1 was listed on JD.com at CNY 285,800 (about USD 41,860) with deliveries from late May.

Reuters reported in August 2026 that AiMOGA had delivered more than 3,000 robots, 2,000 of them outside China in over 60 countries, and had 110 police-style robots on traffic and crowd duty in Chinese cities, with a target of 10,000 deliveries the following year. Those are company figures. Zhang said the unit was talking to exchanges about an IPO; AiMOGA then said it had taken no substantive steps toward one.
