Profile

What the record says.

EngineAI, or Zhongqing Robotics in Chinese, was set up in Shenzhen in October 2023 by Zhao Tongyang, who is chairman and CEO, with Ren Guowen listed as co-founder. Zhao had co-founded the Pengxing Intelligent robotics venture with XPeng Motors after 2018, and much of the early team came from XPeng's robotics unit. Wikipedia records a 200 million US dollar Series B in April 2026 at a valuation of around 1.5 billion US dollars.

The company sells cheap, fast bipeds rather than one flagship. The SA01 leg platform appeared in July 2024 at 38,500 yuan, the full-size SE01 in October 2024 and the 138 cm PM01 in December 2024. The PM01 drew attention for a near-human straight-legged gait and, on 23 February 2025, for what the company called the first front flip by a humanoid. A larger T800 was shown doing martial arts moves in December 2025.

On 29 May 2026 EngineAI opened a 12,000 square metre plant in Honghualing, Shenzhen, saying it could build a robot every 15 minutes and that the first T800 batch was leaving the line. In the same release it described 2025 output as hundreds of PM01 units. It has not published shipment totals, revenue or headcount.
