What the record says.

Physical Intelligence, styled as the Greek letter pi, was founded in San Francisco in early 2024 by Karol Hausman, Sergey Levine, Chelsea Finn, Brian Ichter and Lachy Groom. Hausman and Ichter came from Google's robotics research, Levine from UC Berkeley and Finn from Stanford. The company builds no robots; it trains one control model on data from many arms, mobile manipulators and humanoids, on the premise that one brain will drive any body.

The model line is public. Pi0 appeared on 31 October 2024 as a generalist policy folding laundry and bussing tables on several robot types; it was open-sourced in February 2025. Pi0.5 in April 2025 was tested in homes the model had not seen. Pi-star-0.6 in November 2025 added reinforcement learning from real-world corrections, and pi0.7 followed on 16 April 2026 as a steerable model. All demonstrations are the company's own.

After a USD 70 million seed, the company raised USD 400 million at USD 2.4 billion in November 2024 and USD 600 million led by CapitalG at USD 5.6 billion in November 2025, with Thrive, Lux, Khosla, Sequoia and OpenAI among backers. In March 2026 Bloomberg reported talks on a further USD 1 billion at about USD 11 billion. As of that reporting the company had not released a commercial product or named a paying customer.
