What the record says.

Robotera (Beijing Xingdong Jiyuan Technology) was set up in August 2023 by Chen Jianyu, born in 1992, and incubated at Tsinghua University's Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences; Tsinghua holds shares directly. It builds its own actuators and says it develops the full hardware and software stack in-house.

The products are the STAR1 humanoid, filmed running in the Gobi desert and on the Great Wall, the full-size L7 biped that succeeded it, the Q5 wheeled service humanoid, the M7 upper-body unit and the XHand direct-drive five-finger hand, which is sold separately. Deployment claims centre on parcel logistics: by July 2026 the company said its robots were working in more than 10 sorting centres across five provinces for SF Express and China Post, with thousand-unit batch deliveries promised for the second quarter of 2026. Unit totals have not been independently confirmed.

Funding in 2026 was rapid. A CNY 1 billion strategic round in March pushed the valuation past CNY 10 billion (about USD 1.45 billion); SF Group led a USD 200 million round in April or May; and on 6 July 2026 Chengtong Fund led a further CNY 1 billion. Investors include Geely Capital, BAIC Capital, Alibaba, CDH and Beijing municipal funds. Reports say it is weighing a Hong Kong IPO of up to USD 1 billion. Revenue and headcount are unpublished.
