What the record says.
The Bot Company was started in San Francisco in 2024 by Kyle Vogt, who co-founded the self-driving firm Cruise in 2013, sold it to General Motors for USD 1 billion in 2016 and resigned as its CEO in November 2023 after California pulled Cruise's driverless permits. His co-founders are Paril Jain, formerly an AI lead at Tesla, and Luke Holoubek, an ex-Cruise engineer.
The pace of fundraising is what makes it notable. A first USD 150 million round from Spark Capital and Nat Friedman among others valued it at USD 550 million; on 24 March 2025 a second USD 150 million round led by Greenoaks set a USD 2 billion post-money valuation, with Quiet Capital and the Collison brothers among participants. On 28 October 2025 Bloomberg reported it was set to raise USD 250 million at more than USD 4 billion, led by Eclipse.
That sits on nothing shown in public. As of the latest reporting no prototype had been revealed, there were no shipments and no revenue. The robot, by press accounts, is not a humanoid: a wheeled or tracked base with arms and grippers, meant to pick up toys and tidy rather than do dishes, because low-stakes tasks tolerate a 90 to 99 percent success rate. It is in this database as a well-funded counter-bet on the humanoid form.
