Profile

What the record says.

X-Humanoid, formally the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, was set up in November 2023 in Beijing E-Town (the Yizhuang development zone) as China's first provincial-level humanoid centre, a joint venture rather than a private startup. UBTech, Xiaomi's robotics arm and the state-owned Beijing Jingcheng Machinery Electric put in about USD 42 million, and the E-Town government vehicle Beijing Yizhuang Robot Technology added USD 7 million, for registered capital of roughly USD 49 million. Xiong Youjun, also UBTech's CTO, runs it.

Its platform is Tiangong, unveiled in April 2024 as a 163 cm, 43 kg all-electric humanoid that jogged at 6 km/h and climbed stairs without cameras. Tiangong 1.2 MAX (173 cm, 60 kg) followed in August 2024, then the athletic Tiangong Ultra, which won the first humanoid half marathon in Beijing in April 2025 and took a large share of the medals at the World Humanoid Robot Games in August 2025. A compact Tiangong Omni, the Hui Si Kai Wu software platform, the RoboMind dataset and an XR-1 vision-language-action model are released as open source for other makers.

The centre says more than 120 third-generation robots are in use generating training data, and Xiong told the 2026 World Robot Conference it intends to pursue an IPO. Its output is mostly demonstrations, datasets and reference designs; paying industrial deployments and revenue have not been published.

Around 280 teams from 16 countries compete in the National Speed Skating Oval in athletics, football, dance and applied tasks such as medicine sorting and hotel cleaning. Unitree robots win most track events, including the 1500 m in 6 minutes 34 seconds, while frequent falls show the state of the art.

  2. First humanoid half marathon in Beijing: Tiangong Ultra wins in 2 hours 40 minutes

Twenty one humanoid teams run 21 km alongside human runners in Beijing's Yizhuang district, most with human handlers and several battery swaps. Tiangong Ultra from X-Humanoid finishes first; only six robots complete the course and several fall or overheat.

  3. Beijing's Humanoid Robot Innovation Center unveils Tiangong

The state backed Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center (later X-Humanoid) reveals Tiangong, a 163 cm, 43 kg open source humanoid that runs at 6 km/h. It later wins the first humanoid half marathon.
