Fourier GR-1

GR-1 was revealed at WAIC in July 2023 and entered production the same year, one of the first Chinese humanoids sold in volume to research labs. It grew out of Fourier's rehabilitation robotics business.

How the score is built

Capability is what the machine physically does. Value compares it with others at a similar price, not with the whole market. Buyability asks whether you can really order one. Ecosystem is the software and community around it. Proof is what it has done in the field, which is where most humanoids score badly and should.

Where it stands

First-generation platform, in production since late 2023 and sold to universities and research labs; succeeded by GR-2.

What stands out

  • Over 100 units delivered in 2023
  • Used in Nvidia GR00T demonstrations

Autonomy, observed

Walking and box carrying demos; used in many academic RL and teleoperation papers (for example in Nvidia GR00T work).

Hands, sensors, brain

  • Hands: optional dexterous hands (up to 54 DOF total)

Price and volume

No public list price.

Fourier said it delivered over 100 GR-1 units by the end of 2023.

Index position

In the Humanoid Index, which ranks on shipped reality rather than value for money, Fourier GR-1 sits at #9 of 107 with 52 points: deployment 20/50, autonomy 18/30, availability 14/20. See that method.
