Xpeng is a Guangzhou electric car maker founded in 2014 by He Xiaopeng, Xia Heng and He Tao, listed in New York (XPEV) and Hong Kong (9868). It treats robots, flying cars and driver assistance as one physical-AI programme built around its in-house Turing chip. The robotics unit dates from 2020 and the first-generation IRON humanoid appeared at AI Day in November 2024.
The next-generation IRON, shown at AI Day on 5 November 2025, is 178 cm and 70 kg with hands of 22 degrees of freedom, an all-solid-state battery and three Turing chips giving 2,250 TOPS, running Xpeng's second-generation VLA model. Xpeng said it would prioritise commercial service jobs such as guided tours, with an inspection deployment at steelmaker Baosteel, and would start mass production by the end of 2026, aiming at more than 1,000 units a month and a long-range figure of one million by 2030. None of that volume exists yet; public deployments so far are demonstrations and pilots.
In June 2026 He Xiaopeng took direct charge of robotics, and on 24 August 2026 Xpeng Robotics was spun into a subsidiary with a round of more than USD 900 million at a USD 6.3 billion post-money valuation, led by IDG Capital with Tencent and Alibaba; Xpeng keeps roughly 82 percent.

Xpeng Iron
Iron is Xpeng's full-size humanoid, first shown in November 2024 working in its Guangzhou car plant. The 2025 version adds 82 degrees of freedom, a bionic spine, solid-state battery and Xpeng's own Turing chips, with mass production planned for late 2026.

PX5 was Xpeng's first bipedal humanoid, shown at Tech Day in October 2023 as part of its robotics program alongside the Xpeng flying car.
